Sygaldry Technologies is building quantum-accelerated AI servers to speed up training and inference for AI. The company is seeking an exceptional accounting leader to serve as Assistant Controller / Controller—the first dedicated accounting hire and number two in finance. You will own the accounting function day-to-day, including close, controls, systems, and audit, with real autonomy and direct exposure to the leadership team and board-facing work. You're joining at an inflection point with the chance to architect the finance stack. The company recently completed its first external audit and is migrating off QuickBooks onto a modern GL platform. Key responsibilities include: - Finance systems & administration: own and administer the GL and connected finance systems; complete the QuickBooks migration; proactively identify and implement system and process improvements. - Cost, WIP & fixed-asset accounting: own inventory and work-in-process for hardware builds and the fixed-asset subledger for lab and production equipment, including capitalization, depreciation, and roll-forwards. - Multi-entity & international accounting: own consolidation across US and international entities, multi-currency accounting and FX, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing. - Controls & scalable process: establish segregation of duties and scalable controls across procure-to-pay, payroll, and journal entries as the finance team grows. - Monthly and quarterly close: run end-to-end and drive toward a tight 4–5 business day close. - Audit: partner on current audit and grow into full ownership of the annual audit, including workpapers, PBC management, and auditor relationship. - Procurement & spend controls: serve as accounting point of contact in spend-management/procurement system, verifying correct coding and support. - Core accounting operations: oversee AP, AR, payroll accounting, and expense; manage third-party bookkeeping partner. - Technical accounting: apply GAAP independently to recurring areas; partner on complex policy positions (R&E capitalization, revenue recognition). - Reporting support: provide clean, reconciled actuals for monthly management reporting and board materials. The role carries real international and multi-entity scope. You'll be comfortable in a lean, high-autonomy function, hands-on with technical work, and able to manage an outsourced bookkeeping partner. REQUIREMENTS: - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full ownership of a close cycle. - CPA required. - Hands-on cost, WIP, inventory, and fixed-asset accounting in a manufacturing, hardware, or physical-product environment, including subledger ownership, capitalization, and depreciation. - Multi-entity, multi-location, and multi-currency experience, including consolidation and foreign-currency accounting. - System deployment and administration: led or been core to an ERP/GL implementation (NetSuite, Campfire, Rillet, or similar) and can administer one. - Experience operating within a spend-management/procurement (P2P) system (e.g., Ramp, Zip, Airbase, Coupa). - Has been through external audits (Big Four or national firm) and can own the company side of one. - Strong technical GAAP foundation and judgment to know what to escalate. - Direct, low-ego communicator who prefers signal over ceremony. Preferred qualifications: - Experience at a venture-backed startup that scaled toward or through an IPO. - Exposure to SOX/ITGC readiness or public-company reporting. - Deep tech, quantum, or advanced-hardware manufacturing experience.
