Reporting to the VP of Finance, you'll take full ownership of bookkeeping, month-end close, financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit management. For your first 6–12 months, you'll be hands-on as an individual contributor, running closes and reconciliations yourself. There is a clear path to Senior Controller leading a small team as the function grows.
Key responsibilities include:

- Managing tax compliance, filings, and coordination with external tax partners (including R&D credits and multi-state considerations)
- Owning the full AP/AR cycle: vendor bill pay, employee reimbursements, invoicing, and collections
- Day-to-day bookkeeping: transaction categorization, journal entries, GL maintenance across banking, payroll, Stripe, Brex, and accounting systems
- Leveraging AI to accelerate repetitive work while applying sound judgment
Success milestones:
- First 30 days: Take ownership of books from outsourced partner, learn systems, run first month-end close, begin audit prep
- First 60 days: Lead day-to-day audit fieldwork, deliver schedules and PBC requests on time, tighten GL mapping
- First 90 days: Deliver consistent monthly close, document core internal controls, achieve 99% bookkeeping accuracy
You'll have high visibility with leadership, partner closely with external auditors and tax advisors, and help shape the accounting team as it grows.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (or 3–4 years of highly relevant hands-on work)
- Big 4 public accounting training or experience in the accounting function of a large company, ideally followed by early-stage ownership roles
- Deep command of month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, payables/receivables, and tax
- High-ownership mindset and genuine enjoyment of hands-on work
- Comfort with ambiguity and building process from scratch
- Best-in-class attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy
- Ability to use AI to move faster on repetitive tasks while exercising judgment
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
BONUS:
- CPA certification
- Prior audit experience from the company side (preparing schedules, responding to PBC requests, managing audit timelines)
- Familiarity with Stripe, Brex, or similar tools; experience managing books across multiple systems without unified ERP
