Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Control Software Engineer to join its Software Engineering team. The company is on a mission to deliver commercially viable fusion energy and has raised nearly $3 billion in capital as the largest private fusion company in the world.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of software and controls for advanced R&D equipment and complex machinery. As a hands-on technical contributor, you will write excellent quality, production-ready code for mission-critical real-time systems. You will collect functional requirements from customers and stakeholders, then produce software solutions that meet these requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing control software for advanced equipment and machinery
- Writing high-quality, production-ready code for real-time systems
- Gathering and analyzing functional requirements from customers
- Integrating software into software testbeds, hardware testbeds, and production tools
- Collaborating with a variety of engineers across the organization
- Contributing to the broader software ecosystem to improve tooling and processes
