The Honest Company, a publicly traded (NASDAQ: HNST) digitally-native consumer products company founded in 2012, is seeking a Consumer Insights Data Analyst to serve as the objective source of truth on business and category performance. Based in Los Angeles with products available via e-commerce and approximately 50,000 retail locations across the US, Canada, and Europe, the company is mission-driven to inspire conscious living through thoughtfully formulated personal care, beauty, baby, and household products.
In this hybrid role (open to Minneapolis, MN or Los Angeles, CA locations), you will own data quality and build the dashboards and visualizations that drive business decisions. You'll apply advanced analytics to explain performance and uncover growth opportunities, partnering cross-functionally to democratize data-driven decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the single source of truth on business performance across syndicated data sources (Circana, Stackline) and retailer POS portals, harmonizing them into one consistent view of consumption, share, distribution, pricing, and promotion.
- Maintain data pipelines, product and retailer hierarchies, and common KPI definitions; establish validation checks and cross-source reconciliation to ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting by brand, category, channel, and retailer; proactively flag trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Design, develop, and maintain intuitive, automated dashboards; continuously improve usability, adoption, and refresh reliability.
- Lead deep-dive analyses such as sales driver decomposition, price and promotion effectiveness, distribution and velocity, assortment and share of shelf, forecasting, and incrementality; translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Brand, Finance, Sales, etc.) to understand business questions and key success metrics; train and enable stakeholders to find and use data independently.
- Synthesize data from multiple sources into concise narratives and presentations that influence strategy.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for data vendors, managing deliverables, database builds, and issue resolution.
The ideal candidate is a curious, strategic thinker who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data analytics, sales or category analytics, or business intelligence within CPG or retail.
- Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field required; advanced degree is a plus.
- Hands-on expertise with Circana, Stackline, NielsenIQ, or other retailer POS systems.
- Strong command of CPG measures (consumption, distribution, velocity, base vs. incremental, dollar and unit share).
- Advanced Excel and SQL; experience with Python or R for data manipulation and statistical modeling.
- Proficiency building dashboards in Power BI, Hex, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
- Experience with statistical methods such as regression, forecasting, and price elasticity modeling.
- Working knowledge of data modeling, ETL, and cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks) is preferred.
- Relentless attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
- Ability to reconcile and synthesize disparate data sources into a single, trusted view.
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Collaborative partner who can influence and educate stakeholders at all levels.
- Adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written, verbal, and data storytelling skills.
- Proactive and curious, with a drive to automate and continuously improve processes.
- Experience managing data vendor relationships.
- Passion for enabling others through data literacy and self-service tools.
