Anduril Industries is seeking a Computer Vision Engineer to join its Space team in Washington, DC. The Space team develops AI-powered capabilities for Space Domain Awareness, Space Control, and Command and Control systems for U.S. military and allied partners, including fully integrated hardware and software systems powered by Lattice OS.
In this role, you will design and develop perception subsystems for spacecraft across all orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, GEO, Reentry, and RPOD). You will work on hardware sensors, advanced processing platforms, navigation algorithms, flight software implementation, and subsystem integration and testing. The position involves close collaboration with Sensors, GNC, Avionics, Systems, Flight Software, Mission Operations, and Ground Software teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Proposing and prototyping innovative computer vision solutions using state-of-the-art techniques
- Developing and maintaining core CV libraries and runtime applications
- Integrating classical geometric methods with modern ML approaches
- Designing and implementing space vehicle CV software and hardware subsystems
- Developing autonomous spacecraft operations capabilities with maneuvering functionality
- Creating test plans and procedures for ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operations
- Designing flight software, firmware, algorithms, and simulation products
- Developing space vehicle autonomy tools for dynamic operations
- Providing hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulation capabilities
- Supporting ground testing, launch windows, and on-orbit operations
Required qualifications include an MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Image Science with computer vision emphasis (or BS in related field). You must have advanced professional experience developing and benchmarking ML algorithms on large-scale datasets, high proficiency in C++ development in Linux environments, and expertise in object detection, tracking, segmentation, or natural feature tracking. Additional required experience includes visual odometry, SLAM, multi-view geometry, structure from motion, 3D geometry, or sensor fusion techniques. Familiarity with terminal guidance, rendezvous proximity operations, orbital mechanics, and spacecraft GNC is preferred. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential.
