Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise, advancing sustainable air mobility. The Computer Vision Engineer will develop the onboard perception stack that powers autonomous flight and landing capabilities. In this role, you will design and implement the core perception system by fusing camera, lidar, and radar sensor data for real-time object detection, tracking, and precision landing. You'll develop both deep-learning and classical computer vision algorithms optimized for embedded deployment on resource-constrained aircraft systems. Key responsibilities include performing multi-sensor calibration, optimizing algorithms for real-time performance on embedded compute platforms, and analyzing flight test data to characterize and improve perception accuracy. You'll collaborate closely with navigation, controls, and hardware teams to integrate perception outputs into the broader autonomous flight system. This is a hands-on role requiring you to take algorithms from concept through production-ready, real-time embedded deployment—a critical capability for safe autonomous aircraft operation. Required qualifications include a strong background in computer vision and/or machine learning (degree in related technical field or equivalent), proficiency in C++ and Python, experience with deep-learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorRT) and classical CV libraries (OpenCV), and demonstrated ability processing lidar and/or radar point-cloud data. You should have hands-on experience with sensor calibration, multi-sensor fusion, and deploying algorithms on embedded systems. Bonus qualifications include experience deploying models on NVIDIA Jetson or CUDA-based platforms, background with precision/automated landing systems, or experience in subscale aircraft, robotics, or vehicle perception. This position is based onsite in San Jose; visa sponsorship is not available.
