Graphcore is seeking a Component Engineer to join the Manufacturing and Technology Process team within Operations. This role is based in Taiwan (Hsinchu or Taipei) and supports component selection, evaluation, and qualification across new product introduction and volume manufacturing for Graphcore's AI infrastructure hardware.
You will own component selection decisions that directly impact product performance, quality, yield, and supply chain continuity. Key responsibilities include managing component specifications, approved supplier lists, and Bill of Material revisions; identifying component risks and developing practical alternatives; and collaborating across Manufacturing, Test, Quality, and Supply Chain functions.
The role connects detailed electronics knowledge with real manufacturing and supply chain challenges. You'll work with internal engineering teams, component suppliers, and manufacturing partners to solve problems across component, PCB, package, and manufacturing dependencies. Some global travel to supplier sites may be required.
Required qualifications include strong electronics knowledge (component parameters, datasheets, selection); practical experience with BoM management and component sourcing systems (Arena, Silicon Expert); understanding of PCB manufacturing and SMT assembly processes; ability to understand dependencies between silicon, package, and PCB design; experience working with electronics suppliers and contract manufacturers; Electronic Engineering qualifications or equivalent practical experience; and fluent Mandarin Chinese communication skills.
You'll be expected to take ownership, surface risks early, and use evidence to make sound decisions. The team operates across Bristol, Cambridge, and Taiwan, with a culture emphasizing collaboration, rapid decision-making, and accountability.
