Ramp is building smart infrastructure for finance teams, automating how over $200B in annualized spend flows through 70,000+ companies. The Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team is seeking a senior strategist to transition from running individual compliance cases to scaling the systems and AI tools that power case management at scale.
In this role, you will partner directly with Engineering and the Head of FCC Tooling to transform compliance judgment into production-ready AI systems. You'll work across transaction monitoring (TM) alerts, sanctions screening, complex fraud detection, and enhanced due diligence (EDD) reviews. Your primary focus is moving AI/automation initiatives from prototype to repeatable, well-governed processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with engineers on automation experimentation and AI initiatives, converting one-off calibration exercises into defined evaluation processes
- Design and operate labeling and tagging workflows for model outputs (TM alert dispositions, sanctions/PEP hit reviews), replacing ad hoc processes with structured pipelines
- Define and maintain test sets, scenario coverage, and evaluation frameworks for compliance AI and agent tools
- Own documentation and governance for every automated or AI-assisted decision point
- Collaborate with the FCC team to understand current workflows and guide innovative solutions
- Recommend automation and AI adoption decisions with evidence; escalate control-posture or model-risk trade-offs to compliance leadership
You'll remain close to FCC's day-to-day workflows and participate in some case work, but this is fundamentally a builder role focused on scaling systems rather than running cases.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of financial services experience in compliance, AML, or related regulatory advisory roles, preferably in fintech
- Demonstrated senior-investigator experience across TM Alerts, AML Investigations, Complex Fraud, and EDD Reviews
- Direct experience testing, labeling, or evaluating AI/ML model outputs, or strong aptitude with demonstrated fast ramp-up if new to formal model evaluation
- Strong AI fluency and data analytics skills
- Comfort partnering with engineers day-to-day and ability to translate compliance judgment into build specs, test cases, and evaluation criteria
- Strong project management and documentation rigor
- Ability to scope ambiguous automation problems, choose an approach, and deliver durable outcomes with minimal oversight
Nice-to-haves:
- Data science background
- Experience working with outsourced testing/QA partners on model tuning or signal collection
