Cardless is a program manager partnering with FDIC- and OCC-regulated issuing banks to design and deliver co-branded credit and debit card programs. This role owns compliance issue management end-to-end: the inventory of known compliance issues across card programs, the corrective action plans that resolve them, consumer remediation that makes affected customers whole, and reporting to bank partners and regulators. This is a hands-on role that decides whether a problem is actually fixed—not just closed on a ticket, but fixed in the product, validated with evidence, and documented with records that hold up under regulatory examination. You will inherit a live issue log spanning multiple bank partners with issues at every stage from newly identified through remediating to pending validation, with remediation populations ranging from dozens to thousands of accounts. Key responsibilities include: owning the compliance issue log end-to-end (intake, classification, root cause, target dates, status, closure); maintaining reconciliation between Cardless's log and each bank partner's own issue register; writing corrective action plans that name the defect, fix, owner, target date, and evidence of resolution; establishing and documenting when consumer harm stopped for each issue; working with Engineering, Product, and Operations to ensure durable fixes; scoping and running consumer remediation programs; verifying after-the-fact that every customer received correct remediation; producing monthly issue logs for each bank partner; responding to bank partner and examination requests on short turnarounds; and improving tooling and workflow to scale the program. The role sits at the intersection of Compliance, Engineering, Product, Operations, and Finance. You will report to bank partners, the Compliance Committee, and the Board. The company is AI-forward and encourages automation of manual tasks. Work is in-office 5 days per week in San Francisco. REQUIREMENTS: - Critical thinking and ability to work out what actually happened given incomplete information; you show your work and defend your conclusions - Track record of taking problems from identification through to fixed and verified; you personally check that fixes hold - Current use of AI tools in actual work; you understand where they are reliable and check their output - Comfort with data; ability to read numbers, assess whether they are plausible, and notice contradictions - Clear writing skills; ability to produce corrective action plans, issue narratives, remediation summaries, and regulatory-ready reporting - Willingness to learn financial regulations (Regulation Z, E, B, UDAAP, FCRA, etc.); genuine interest in understanding why rules exist - Organization to manage dozens of open items with hard dates without losing track - Self-direction; ability to see what is broken or missing, take ownership, and follow through without daily check-ins - Any background welcome (financial services, operations, audit, consulting, analytics, engineering, science, law, military, teaching, etc.); evidence of critical thinking and follow-through matters more than years of experience BONUS: - SQL query writing to pull and verify populations independently - Experience building tooling, scripts, automations, agents, or dashboards - Background in consumer finance, credit cards, payments, lending, disputes, rewards, or servicing operations - Experience owning compliance issues, corrective action, remediation, internal audit, compliance testing, or restitution programs - Experience supporting regulatory examinations or external audits - Experience building or maturing programs rather than inheriting finished ones - CRCM or other consumer compliance certification
