Turing is an AI-focused company headquartered in San Francisco that works with frontier AI labs and Fortune 500 enterprises to build datasets, reinforcement learning environments, and agentic AI systems. The company operates a global network of vetted technical talent across 100+ countries.
As a Compliance Analyst, you will own the quality and integrity of Turing's Know Your Customer (KYC) and identity verification program. This is a hands-on, high-volume operations role requiring deep KYC/AML judgment and the ability to make independent decisions on ambiguous cases while spotting systemic patterns across thousands of cases.
Key responsibilities include:
**Case Adjudication & Identity Verification**
- Review and adjudicate KYC and identity verification cases across multiple regions, including document verification, liveness checks, and data cross-checks
- Make independent, well-reasoned decisions on ambiguous and high-risk cases where policy guidance is incomplete, with clear escalation and recommendations
- Detect and act on identity-fraud and document-fraud techniques (forgeries, manipulations, synthetic/stolen identities, impersonation) adapted to regional differences
**Sanctions, PEP & AML Screening**
- Conduct and resolve sanctions screening, politically exposed person (PEP) checks, and adverse-media review
- Clear false positives and escalate true matches within the AML framework
- Apply AML and risk frameworks consistently with documented rationale for audit purposes
**Quality Assurance & Calibration**
- Audit completed verification cases by sampling decisions for accuracy and identifying errors or policy deviations
- Run calibration sessions, track accuracy scores and error trends, and provide constructive feedback to reviewers
- Convert QA findings into concrete improvements: policy updates, process fixes, and targeted training
**Program & Process Improvement**
- Surface emerging fraud trends and control gaps to leadership with recommendations
- Refine verification playbooks, decision trees, and documentation standards as regulations and fraud tactics evolve
- Write clear case documentation and reviewer guidance
You will work remotely across time zones with talent and stakeholders worldwide. The role emphasizes judgment over scripts, quality as a system, and low-ego, high-ownership collaboration.
**Requirements**
Required:
- 7+ years of experience in KYC, AML, identity verification, trust and safety, or fraud operations, ideally at a fintech, marketplace, gig/talent platform, or global staffing company
- Strong hands-on knowledge of document verification and identity-fraud techniques across multiple regions
- Working knowledge of sanctions screening, PEP checks, and AML frameworks
- Experience in KYC quality assurance: auditing completed verification cases, sampling decisions for accuracy, identifying errors or policy deviations, and giving constructive feedback to reviewers
- Familiarity with QA frameworks and metrics (accuracy scores, error categorization, calibration sessions, root cause analysis) and ability to turn QA findings into process or training improvements
- Experience with KYC/IDV platforms such as Onfido, Jumio, Persona, Sumsub, or Veriff, and screening tools such as World-Check, ComplyAdvantage, or LexisNexis
- Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and ability to make independent decisions on ambiguous cases
- Strong written communication skills for case documentation and cross-cultural communication
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume, remote environment
Preferred:
- Relevant certification such as CAMS, CFE, or equivalent AML/fraud credential
- Experience building or scaling a KYC/QA function, not just operating within one
- Exposure to global identity and data-privacy regimes (GDPR and similar) and right-to-work or contractor-eligibility verification
- Comfort working with data: pulling samples, reading dashboards, quantifying fraud and quality trends
