Fluidstack is building civilization-scale AI compute infrastructure at unprecedented speed and scale. The company is rethinking every layer of the data center stack—from power acquisition and design through operations—to deploy 10-100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. The Supply Chain team is central to this mission: they must qualify and dual-source every critical equipment category, keep procurement off the critical path, and build AI-powered supply chain forecasting that gives Fluidstack a structural competitive edge.
As Commodity Manager for Electrical, you will own multi-year commodity strategies for electrical equipment categories including switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, busway, power distribution, and cabling. You will build should-cost models that withstand supplier scrutiny, secure manufacturing capacity and lead times for long-lead gear by locking slot reservations against the forward build pipeline, and negotiate and execute Master Supply Agreements and Long-Term Agreements with coordination across Legal and Finance on pricing, metals escalation clauses, and cost-down commitments.
You will run Quarterly Business Reviews and supplier scorecards tracking quality, on-time delivery, cost, and responsiveness. You will develop dual-source and geographic diversification plans to eliminate single-source risk. You will partner closely with Electrical Engineering on specifications, standardization, and design-for-cost decisions to ensure every design change has a qualified supply base behind it.
Fluidstack operates with radical autonomy ("be a barrel"), insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and a focus on work that matters. The company hires people who care deeply about AI alignment and human freedom, and who thrive at high intensity and speed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven track record building and owning commodity strategies for electrical equipment (switchgear, transformers, UPS, power distribution), backed by should-cost models that survive supplier pushback.
- Experience negotiating complex, multi-year supply agreements and capacity reservations with electrical OEMs across global markets.
- Proficiency using copper, aluminum, and steel commodity indices to structure escalation terms and anticipate pricing swings.
- End-to-end RFI, RFQ, and RFP process execution, from supplier qualification through contract signature.
- Demonstrated ability to track supplier performance via scorecards (quality, on-time delivery, cost) and act on data before schedule impact.
- Working knowledge of ERP and procurement platforms (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, or equivalent) sufficient to run sourcing events and spend analytics independently.
- Bonus: Electrical engineering background; sourcing experience in data center, utility, or hyperscale infrastructure; familiarity with UL, IEC, and IEEE standards for supplier qualification.
