Torc, now part of the Daimler family, is a leader in autonomous driving technology since 2007, focused on developing software for automated trucks. This role is part of the commissioning and systems integration team responsible for bringing autonomous vehicle software from development to deployment. You will support the integration of self-driving software onto vehicles and test benches, working across the full system lifecycle from initial integration through extended field testing. Key responsibilities include developing and executing comprehensive test plans for both closed-course and on-road evaluation of software updates, troubleshooting component and system integration issues, and analyzing results from automated testing pipelines to improve efficiency. You'll evaluate overall system performance by understanding sub-system contributions and providing feedback to development teams. The role involves managing system issues from identification through resolution, performing first-tier analysis of extended testing data, and tracking/reporting system performance KPIs. You will also support the derivation of product requirements from external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and liability review processes. This includes collaborating with functional safety engineering teams to ensure alignment with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) and ISO 21448 (SOTIF) standards, and working with architecture teams on system/hardware/software design considerations. Additional responsibilities include creating requirements for new testing tools and automation, documenting best practices, and providing integration support to other testing teams. The role requires a valid US driver's license with a safe driving record, as you'll need to transport to locations away from the primary site and occasionally travel to other facilities. You may have opportunities for international travel. You'll work in environments requiring personal protective equipment and occasional outdoor exposure. The position demands flexibility, willingness to work occasional overtime, and ability to collaborate across time zones. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. 0-3+ years of experience demonstrating relevant technical competencies. Valid US driver's license with safe driving record. Continuous technical education and training required to maintain expertise in autonomous vehicle systems and emerging standards.
