Verkor is a French industrial company pioneering low-carbon battery manufacturing in Europe, backed by Renault Group, Plastic Omnium, and Schneider Electric. The company operates an Innovation Centre in Grenoble and is ramping up a Gigafactory in Dunkirk focused on mass-producing low-carbon lithium-ion batteries to support European mobility decarbonization.
As Coating Senior Engineer, you will lead the electrode coating and drying processes at the Dunkirk Gigafactory. This is a hands-on technical role with significant responsibility for process optimization and factory launch support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teams during Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) development and gigafactory ramp-up activities
- Collaborating with product engineering to optimize coating processes for electrode designs
- Increasing process automation to reduce capital and operating costs
- Testing and validating state-of-the-art coating technologies
- Conducting root cause investigations into coating defects during production
- Overseeing electrode process systems at the gigafactory
You will need a Master's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with slot die coating and drying processes. Expert knowledge required in single and dual-slot die coating systems, fluid mechanics, piping design, and fluid measurement techniques. Experience with roll-to-roll web process sensors (beta-ray, x-ray, ultrasonic, laser, vision inspection) is essential. Manufacturing experience with large-format coating (up to 1400mm width) and battery manufacturing background are required. Strong statistical and data analysis skills with Python, Matlab, and Minitab are expected.
