The Controls Engineering team develops 0-1 automation solutions to enhance CNC machine efficiency and capabilities, focusing on automated probing validation, machine calibration, in-process control, tool laser measurement, breakage detection, tool life management, offsets, and origins.
In this role, you will execute Hadrian's machining roadmap to scale operations across multiple US factories. You'll develop a universal controller interface for CNC machines to ensure interoperability across diverse platforms. You'll utilize spindle probing to revolutionize inspection and process control, enhancing precision and efficiency. You'll innovate an integrated CMM-to-CNC feedback loop, bridging measurement and control in machining processes. You'll develop systems that empower operators in advanced machine control, lowering barriers to entry for CNC manufacturing. You'll support cross-functional teams (Applications Engineering, CAM Operations, Software Engineering, Robotics) in engineering processes that expand on-machine capabilities.
Required qualifications include macro programming experience with Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain; ability to run and operate CNC machines including part setup, tool loading, tool offsets, and spindle probing; software coding experience with Python, data structures, version control (GitHub), and testing; excellent written and verbal communication; and applicable machining knowledge across machine types (mills, lathes), materials (aluminum, stainless, hard metals), tooling, workholding, and fixture design.
Desirable experience includes PLC programming, software engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or robotics; hyperMILL, Heidenhain, Fanuc, or NX; and machining Inconel or Titanium. System design, mechanical design, operational experience, and ability to bridge hardware and software disciplines are strongly valued.
