Hex Technologies is seeking an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to join its security team and help secure a cloud-native RCE-as-a-Service platform. The role combines hands-on infrastructure security work with leadership and mentorship responsibilities. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing security solutions for AWS environments and Kubernetes clusters, with particular focus on isolation and sandboxing for Hex's compute platform. You will build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, conduct security assessments and threat modeling, and embed security best practices into CI/CD pipelines. The role involves monitoring and responding to cloud security incidents, providing compliance expertise (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS), and mentoring engineers across the organization. Required qualifications: 5+ years of cloud security engineering experience with deep AWS expertise. You must demonstrate proficiency with Kubernetes security (cluster hardening, RBAC, network policies, container vulnerability management) and expert-level Terraform knowledge. Familiarity with AWS security services (IAM, GuardDuty, Security Hub, CloudTrail, WAF), CNAPP solutions like Wiz, and SIEM solutions like Panther is expected. Strong understanding of secure software development lifecycle, CI/CD security, and DevSecOps methodologies is essential. Desirable qualifications include AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS), and Terraform Associate certifications. SANS or OffSec security certifications are a bonus. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills are required. Hex's product is a web-based notebook and app authoring platform built with TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Express, Postgres, Redis, and Kubernetes. The engineering team values pragmatic problem-solving and learning from production incidents. The company offers competitive salary and equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.
