Supabase is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join Cloud Engineering, part of Engineering Operations. You will shape the foundations that enable engineering teams to build, ship, and operate infrastructure safely and independently across AWS and GCP. This role spans cloud governance, platform engineering, and hands-on operations. You will work across AWS and GCP account structure, identity and access management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), reusable platform primitives, security boundaries, and self-service workflows for engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement cloud governance across AWS and GCP, including identity, account organization, access controls, and guardrails - Build reusable infrastructure and building blocks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), enabling teams to provision and manage infrastructure safely and consistently - Create self-service capabilities that reduce organizational friction and empower engineers to move quickly within sensible boundaries - Own resource governance and visibility: management tagging, trustworthy inventory of infrastructure and ownership, and consistent cross-account billing data - Develop reusable security primitives, including secrets storage, KMS, certificate management, token vending, direct service-to-service authentication, mTLS, and related platform services - Own cloud-level network and operational primitives: IP address management, DNS, and health signals such as service-limit and quota alerting - Combine software engineering with hands-on operations and total ownership: building, deploying, monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving what you own - Establish and share cloud engineering best practices through documentation, internal tooling, examples, and enablement About Supabase: Supabase is a born-remote, open-source-first company with ~400 team members across 60+ countries speaking 20+ languages. The company has raised over $1B (including a $500M Series F) and has 540,000+ community members. The team moves fast, builds in public, and uses what it ships. Requirements: - 5+ years of experience in cloud governance, platform engineering, and/or operations - Experience operating production systems at scale and carrying on-call responsibilities - Previous significant migration experience (e.g., rearchitected AWS account topology, introduced IaC for existing infrastructure, centralized identity/SSO, or brought a second cloud under governance) - Genuine depth in at least one—ideally two—of these areas: (1) Tooling & ecosystem (intimate familiarity with AWS services, IAM/SSO, Well-Architected Framework, working knowledge of GCP, production IaC experience, compliance collaboration); (2) Software engineering (production code in Go, Rust, or comparable systems language, reliable and maintainable services, full SDLC experience, technical direction, RFC writing); or (3) Operations (production infrastructure experience, on-call pager experience, alert and runbook writing, SLO usage, infrastructure simplification) - Comfortable treating infrastructure as software with relevant IaC and automation experience - Clear communication skills, ability to work with diverse stakeholders, and comfort with async, globally distributed teams - Comfort navigating ambiguity and iterating toward better systems over time Benefits include fully remote work globally, ESOP (equity ownership), tech allowance, 100% health insurance coverage for employees (80% for dependents), annual company off-sites, flexible work with async operations, and annual professional development allowance.
