F5 is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure/Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud landing zones and platform foundations. This role focuses on defining and automating FinOps and security governance using policy-as-code, creating reusable infrastructure-as-code (IaC) libraries, and enabling development teams through CI/CD pipelines and GitOps practices.
Key responsibilities include designing and operating multi-account/subscription cloud landing zones with proper network, identity, logging, and security baselines. You will implement governance guardrails using policy-as-code tools such as Azure Policy, AWS Organizations/SCPs, and OPA/Conftest, including exception handling and auditability. The role requires defining and deploying FinOps observability and enforcement tooling to enable DevOps teams to operate efficiently while maintaining cross-account financial oversight.
You will deliver an infrastructure platform as a product to the internal development community by developing reusable IaC modules and libraries (Terraform primary, with Bicep/ARM and CloudFormation valued). Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, OS images, containers, and platform components using GitOps workflows is essential, including PR-based changes, automated validation, and progressive delivery.
The role emphasizes standardizing environments (dev/test/prod) with consistent controls, tagging/metadata, and cost management guardrails. Security and compliance must be embedded into build/deploy processes: secret handling, encryption, IAM least privilege, vulnerability scanning, and evidence generation. You will implement observability and SRE practices including monitoring/alerting, dashboards, incident response support, and SLI/SLO definition for platform services.
Required qualifications include deep hands-on experience engineering cloud infrastructure on Azure, AWS, and/or GCP (both architecture and implementation). Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform primary) and specific background in cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices (Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, native cost management tools) are essential. Proven experience implementing landing zones and foundational cloud platforms, policy-as-code and automated compliance, and CI/CD expertise for infrastructure are required. You should have working knowledge of configuration management/automation tools like Ansible and Puppet, strong understanding of IAM, network security, encryption, and key management, comfort with Git-based workflows, and scripting/programming ability in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go.
Preferred qualifications include Oracle Cloud (OCI) experience, strong network engineering background for hybrid-cloud connectivity, Kubernetes/platform experience (AKS/EKS/GKE/OKE), familiarity with security frameworks (NIST CSF, SOC 2, ISO 27002), platform engineering concepts, observability stacks, and SAFe or structured agile delivery framework experience.
