Canva is seeking a Cloud Hosting Finance Analyst to join its FP&A team in San Francisco. This role sits at the intersection of finance and data analytics, focused on the economics of Canva's technical infrastructure—compute, storage, cloud hosting, and AI investments that increasingly define the company's cost base and margin profile.
You will own the finance and data layer for hosting spend across Canva's infrastructure. As the company scales AI workloads and grows organically, hosting costs are becoming more complex and strategically important. Your responsibilities will include:
- Reconciling hosting data across all centralized cloud vendor bill line items (AWS, GCP, and emerging providers like Anthropic and OpenAI) to provide FP&A partners with reliable numbers for strategic analysis
- Owning R&D and free reclassification (COGS vs non-COGS, AI vs non-AI) methodologies in the Anaplan hosting model, working with Accounting and technical accounting on audit readiness
- Managing the finance rhythm for hosting: monthly close, quarterly Outlooks, annual AOP, including ProsperOps accruals, invoice validation, and reconciliations
- Building and maintaining queries and dashboards that answer questions from Finance Business Partners, Procurement, and Group Leads about service movements and workload costs
- Partnering with FinOps and Finance Data teams on cloud cost tagging, vendor onboarding, and anomaly detection
- Preparing models and scenario analysis for cloud hosting vendor negotiations, including commit sizing, break-even analysis, and benefit tracking
- Supporting chargeback pilot design and hands-on modeling as Canva moves toward distributed hosting cost accountability
- Using AI tools fluently in daily workflows to increase analytical leverage
You will work closely with Infrastructure, Platform, Procurement, and FinOps leadership to ensure every dollar of hosting spend is understood, well-forecasted, and actively optimized. This role requires someone who is equally excited by data and finance, can turn messy cloud cost data into actionable insights, and catches reconciliation breaks before they become problems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong data proficiency and daily comfort with a BI tool (Mode, Looker, Omni, or similar)
- Strong driver-based modeling skills, particularly for cloud hosting spend
- Hands-on experience with large transactional datasets, ideally cloud cost or billing data (CUR, FinOps tooling)
- Working knowledge of AWS or GCP billing, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Capacity Blocks, and Committed Use Discounts
- Experience operating within an FP&A function or similar, comfortable with monthly close, quarterly forecasting, variance analysis, and planning cycles
- Fluent use of AI tools for model building and analytical work
- Clear written communication and attention to detail for invoices, accruals, reclasses, and reconciliations
- Strongly preferred: Experience with Anaplan or another enterprise planning tool (Adaptive, Pigment, Oracle EPM)
- Bonus: Exposure to FinOps practices and tooling (ProsperOps, Vantage, native cloud cost tools) or chargeback/showback model design
