Canva is seeking a Cloud Hosting Finance Analyst to join its FP&A team in San Francisco. This role sits at the intersection of finance and data analytics, focused on the economics of Canva's technical infrastructure—compute, storage, cloud hosting, and AI investments that power the platform for hundreds of millions of users.
You will own the data layer and financial analysis for hosting spend, one of Canva's largest and fastest-moving cost levers. As Canva scales AI workloads and negotiates new vendor cycles, hosting complexity is increasing. Your work ensures that every dollar of hosting spend is understood, accurately forecasted, and actively optimized.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reconcile hosting data across all centralized cloud vendor bills so FP&A partners can confidently use the numbers for strategic analysis
- Own R&D and free reclass methodologies (COGS vs non-COGS, AI vs non-AI) in the Anaplan hosting model, partnering with Accounting and technical accounting on audit readiness
- Manage the finance rhythm for hosting: monthly close, quarterly Outlooks, annual AOP, including ProsperOps accruals, AWS/GCP invoice validation, and Anaplan reconciliations
- Build and maintain queries and dashboards answering questions from Finance Business Partners, Procurement, and Group Leads about service movements and workload costs
- Partner with FinOps and Finance Data on tagging, vendor onboarding (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI, FAL, G-Core), and anomaly detection
- Prepare models and scenario analysis for cloud hosting vendor renewals and negotiations, including commit sizing and break-even analysis
- Use AI tools fluently in daily workflows and help design chargeback pilot models as Canva moves to distributed cost accountability
You'll work closely with Infrastructure, Platform, Procurement, and FinOps leadership. The role requires someone who sees messy cloud cost data and transforms it into clean, actionable numbers that stakeholders trust. You should write variance commentary that non-finance people understand and catch reconciliation breaks before anyone else notices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong data proficiency and daily comfort with a BI tool (Mode, Looker, Omni, or similar)
- Strong driver-based modelling skills, especially for cloud hosting spend
- Hands-on experience with large transactional datasets, ideally cloud cost or billing data (CUR, FinOps tooling)
- Working knowledge of AWS or GCP billing, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Capacity Blocks, and Committed Use Discounts
- Experience operating within an FP&A function or similar, familiar with monthly close, quarterly forecasting cadences, variance analysis, and planning cycles
- Fluent use of AI tools for model building and analytical work
- Clear written communication and attention to detail across invoices, accruals, reclasses, and reconciliations
- Anaplan experience strongly preferred; experience with other enterprise planning tools (Adaptive, Pigment, Oracle EPM) is a plus
- Exposure to FinOps practices and tooling (ProsperOps, Vantage, native cloud cost tools) or chargeback/showback model design is a bonus
