Salary: USD 75,000 - 85,000 / annual
Bird is a global leader in micromobility, operating electric scooters and bikes in over 200 cities worldwide. The City Operations Manager role is a key position within Bird's Operations Team, responsible for managing end-to-end operations in Kansas City and surrounding small markets.
You will own full P&L responsibility for your market(s), managing performance metrics including ridership, supply, demand, and operational efficiency. Key responsibilities include: overseeing daily operations and coordinating front-line hourly staff; managing vendor and city stakeholder relationships; tracking and optimizing critical operational metrics; flagging and resolving operational issues with partners; driving local growth initiatives and market share improvements; managing costs with focus on profitability; and collaborating across the organization to ensure quality control and process improvements.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong execution habits who can balance big-picture vision with detailed implementation. You should excel at problem-solving in ambiguous environments, simplifying complex challenges into actionable tasks, and communicating effectively with both senior leadership and operational teams.
Required qualifications: 2+ years relevant experience with at least 1+ year managing team members; strong Excel and data management skills; self-motivated and energetic with ability to learn new skills; excellent communicator who builds networks with external partners and city stakeholders; data-driven mindset with attention to detail and passion for process improvement; comfort with new tools and concepts.
Must reside in Kansas City Metro Area (ideally within 30 minutes driving distance) and report to warehouse 5+ days per week. Frequent travel across markets expected. Passion for sustainability, urban mobility, or technology is highly desirable.
