Bird is a global leader in micromobility, operating electric scooters and bikes in over 200 cities worldwide. The company is seeking a City Operations Manager for its Kamloops, Canada location to oversee daily operations and serve as the local leadership point for the market.
In this hands-on management role, you will own the end-to-end execution of Bird's Kamloops operation. Key responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day operational execution: deployment, battery swaps, rebalancing, vehicle retrievals, inspections, and fleet recovery
- Fleet health monitoring: track deployment metrics, task completion, customer reports, city complaints (311 concerns), and operational issues
- Vehicle maintenance: perform diagnostics and repairs, maintain an organized repair queue, and ensure fleet availability
- Logistics and transportation: drive company vehicles and manage loading, transport, and unloading of scooters, bikes, batteries, and equipment
- Team coordination: supervise Operations Partners and seasonal workers, including task assignments, field training, performance management, and quality checks
- Compliance and standards: ensure vehicles are deployed legally, in approved locations, and per city requirements and Bird operating standards
- Warehouse management: oversee local warehouse operations, parts inventory, batteries, tools, vehicle inventory, and asset accountability
- Reporting and analytics: track labor hours, work completion, and operational metrics; provide accurate, timely reporting to the Regional Manager
- Risk identification: identify and communicate emerging risks early, including staffing concerns, fleet issues, city complaints, weather impacts, and market changes
- Community engagement: support local events, partnerships, and city initiatives in coordination with regional leadership
- Seasonal operations: participate in launch/shutdown cycles, fleet recovery, winter storage, repair planning, and scrap recovery
- Flexibility: respond to operational needs, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends during peak periods or urgent situations
This role combines hands-on field work with local leadership. You will be comfortable moving between performing physical tasks and managing people, while keeping the Regional Manager informed of risks and opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in field operations, logistics, fleet management, warehousing, vehicle repair, or comparable hands-on environment
- Previous experience coordinating employees, contractors, or independent operators (preferred)
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and complete basic vehicle repairs
- Strong personal accountability and ability to work independently without continuous supervision
- Practical problem-solving skills and sound judgment in changing field conditions
- Comfortable using mobile applications, spreadsheets, and operational dashboards
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working with municipalities, vendors, or community partners (asset)
- Secondary school education or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record required
- Ability to regularly lift and move vehicles, batteries, and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors and perform physical work in varying weather conditions
- Must be based in or near Kamloops and legally eligible to work in Canada
