Coco Delivery is reimagining last-mile delivery with a fleet of autonomous robots. The company operates in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Jersey City, and Helsinki, and has completed hundreds of thousands of orders for thousands of merchants. As City Manager for New Jersey, you will own Coco's entire operation in the region end-to-end. You are the primary point of contact for merchants, the operational leader responsible for fleet health and performance, and the person accountable for growing the footprint block by block. This is a hands-on role requiring significant time in the field—on streets, in restaurants, and alongside your team. Key responsibilities include: - Own city-level operations: Manage day-to-day fleet health, deployment zones, and operational uptime across all active merchant locations. You are accountable for delivery completion rate, uptime, and cost per delivery metrics, and must know your performance status at any moment. - Drive merchant success: Serve as primary point of contact for merchant partners. Onboard new restaurants, resolve incidents, and proactively improve the delivery experience. Own every missed handoff, misconfigured tablet, and unresolved complaint. - Manage the team: Hire, train, schedule, and manage local operations staff including robot technicians, coordinators, and contract labor. Set clear expectations and build a team that executes with consistency. - Report and improve: Track city KPIs obsessively. Surface insights to central leadership, flag problems early, and drive continuous improvement across all operational dimensions. - Represent Coco locally: Be a visible and trusted presence in the community—at neighborhood meetings, with local press, and with city officials. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years managing a hands-on, physical-world operation (restaurant general manager, fulfillment center manager, field operations manager, or similar) - Proven track record managing direct labor workforce (in-house or contract), including hiring, scheduling, performance management, and accountability - Metrics-driven operating style: set KPIs, track rigorously, self-motivate to hit targets - Extreme attention to detail; build processes to prevent recurrence of issues and create a culture of standards - Strong relationship management skills with restaurant operators, platform partners, and city officials - Highly organized; ability to juggle multiple competing priorities - Willingness to work non-standard hours as operations require PREFERRED: - Experience in restaurants, food delivery, autonomous vehicles, micro-mobility, logistics, or adjacent industries - Experience scaling a market from early-stage to mature operations - Background in account management or B2B sales with restaurant or retail partners - Comfort with operational tooling (Excel/Google Sheets, Notion, Slack, data dashboards)
