AIRO Group is building an integrated platform combining aircraft, autonomy, avionics, and mission services for high-stakes defense and aerospace applications. As Chief Systems Architect, you will serve as the hands-on engineering leader and technical authority driving the design and execution of AIRO's drone business across tactical and commercial platforms.
You will own end-to-end system architecture, from defining Modular Open Systems Architectures (MOSA) and flight-critical avionics to establishing baseline APIs and Interface Control Documents (ICDs). Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle: architecting UAV platforms, integrating advanced autonomy algorithms, optimizing Size-Weight-Power-Cost (SWaP-C) across compute and payloads, and enforcing engineering standards that accelerate flight-readiness.
Key focus areas include serving as chief engineering authority across drone programs, designing open and extensible hardware/software baselines with strict NDAA compliance, leading multidisciplinary trade studies, integrating propulsion and power systems, and solving complex integration bottlenecks. You will work directly with hardware and code, leading engineering teams through rigorous design, testing, and deployment of mission-critical autonomous systems.
This role demands deep expertise in systems engineering, autonomous systems, avionics integration, and defense/aerospace standards. You will translate strategic goals into production-grade platforms fielded under pressure where failure is not an option. The position offers immediate impact in a high-growth company solving hard problems at the intersection of aerospace innovation and national security.
