Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company that owns and operates the full stack—from energy generation to AI workloads—to power the world's most ambitious AI compute. The company is solving the energy bottleneck in AI infrastructure with an energy-first approach. The Chief of Staff role sits at the center of Crusoe's vertical integration, strategizing and building the "Crusoe Operating System"—the software, processes, and AI systems that connect business units and create real operating advantage. You'll work directly with the CTO and senior leadership to keep teams aligned, initiatives moving, and priorities clear as the company scales rapidly. This is a high-agency role requiring you to spot problems before they're surfaced, step in without waiting for direction, and build structure and clarity across a fast-scaling organization. You'll own the connective tissue between engineering, product, cloud services, and operations. Key responsibilities include: building the Crusoe Operating System combining software, processes, and AI; leading internal AI and IT strategy; supporting the CTO and their staff of ~6; serving as connective tissue across leadership; maintaining organizational health and streamlined processes; building KPI infrastructure and dashboards; owning quarterly planning processes; identifying and closing redundant processes; pushing back with technical credibility; representing the CTO's office in cross-functional forums; coordinating with Cloud Engineering and Product; owning cross-cutting programs without natural owners (production readiness, tooling, org-wide comms); driving IPO readiness and compliance; coordinating headcount planning and org design across multiple sites and countries; aggressively using AI tooling and agentic systems; and driving follow-through on commitments. This is not a calendar-and-slide-deck chief of staff role, nor a single-initiative program manager position. You need enough technical depth to engage credibly with engineering leaders and enough organizational instinct to work effectively in the seams between teams. REQUIREMENTS: - Engineering or computer science background strongly preferred - 8+ years in software engineering, technical program management, or technical product role - Experience close enough to production systems to understand SLO breaches - Ability to operate independently with minimal direction - People skills to talk to every executive as a peer and represent engineering credibly to product, leadership, and external stakeholders - Solutions-oriented approach with strong documentation and organization - Experience in high-growth infrastructure or cloud environments where processes are still being built - Experience scaling organizations through significant growth phases - Strong opinions about operational excellence and willingness to push back diplomatically but directly - Ability to work across teams without formal authority - Ability to turn messy, inconsistent data from multiple sources into clear organizational health pictures - Scrappy mindset; willing to build or manually execute until automation exists - Low ego, high drive BONUS: - Neo-cloud experience or time at AWS, GCP, Azure, CoreWeave, Lambda, or similar - Experience standing up or running operations, chief of staff, or reliability functions from scratch - Experience driving quarterly or annual planning for 200+ person organizations - Experience building reporting automation (APIs, dashboards) - AI/ML infrastructure background
