The Manufacturing Engineering team is responsible for taking product lines from concept to production, designing data center modules, switchgear, switchboards, busway, skids, E-Houses, and cooling systems that power Fluidstack's 10+ GW annual capacity. As Chief Engineer for MV Switchgear, you will own the clean-sheet design of Fluidstack's wholly-owned metal-clad medium-voltage switchgear platform, built around a purchased, type-tested vacuum breaker element. You will deliver a production-released, fully type-tested lineup while running IEEE C37.20.2 and C37.09 test campaigns in parallel. This is a leadership role where you will lead a dedicated team of engineers through design, testing, and compliance efforts. Key responsibilities include: - Own end-to-end design authority from one-line diagrams through type testing to factory acceptance - Run the type-test campaign at high-power laboratories, covering short-circuit, internal arc, BIL, and temperature rise testing - Own every redesign loop following test results - Define the platform's ratings ladder, protection and IED integration, and racking and interlock architecture to support MV distribution across 10 GW of buildings annually - Lead product team from first concept to production release, holding design freeze against late-arriving changes - Challenge industry standards and focus on speed and safety through first-principles reasoning Fluidstack operates with full autonomy, insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and a focus on building something that matters. The role requires ownership end-to-end, taking on scope without permission, and operating at high intensity. REQUIREMENTS: - Designed metal-clad MV switchgear and/or GIS switchgear at an OEM as the accountable engineer - Taken a switchgear design through a full type-test campaign at a high-power lab and led redesign after failed internal arc or short-circuit testing - Made insulation coordination, bus bracing, and creepage and clearance decisions - Integrated third-party breaker elements or operating mechanisms into an enclosure and secondary design owned end-to-end - Led a product team from first concept to production release and held design freeze against late-arriving change requests
