Anduril Industries seeks a Chief Engineer for Intelligence Systems to provide senior technical leadership on major defense projects. This role establishes technical direction, engineering standards, and system architecture for significant autonomous systems and sensor integration programs. The Chief Engineer serves as the responsible party for product technical delivery, safety, and program success, acting as a critical partner with Program Managers in customer engagement.
Key responsibilities include leading inter-disciplinary teams (Software, Hardware, Robotics, Test & Evaluation) to develop integrated systems for multi-purpose missions. You will set technical vision and define system architecture to guide development efforts, establish best practices for system development including software standards, code reviews, configuration management, build processes, and testing protocols. The role requires triaging issues, conducting root cause analysis of failures, and coordinating next steps with engineering teams. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure the technical team develops professionally at tenure-appropriate levels, while supporting customer engagements as the technical subject matter expert. Travel up to 25% of the time is required for building, testing, and deploying capabilities at Anduril test ranges and customer-directed sites.
Core requirements include an active U.S. Top Secret Clearance (hard requirement), Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, and minimum 10 years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, and defense applications within intelligence or defense communities. You must have experience in technical management/engineering roles leading teams to integrate software and hardware solutions, and experience developing and executing complex technical programs including optical sensing, radar, RF, EW, UAS systems, counter-UAS systems, sensor integration, networking/communications/command and control, and systems architecture at the sensor integration level. Rapid integration timelines and field testing/deployment experience is essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience with SITL and HITL simulation environments and comprehensive testing program execution, as well as field deployment experience both foreign and domestic.
