Anduril Industries is seeking a Chief Engineer for Fury Science & Tech to serve as the senior technical authority for conceptual design, applied science and technology, and experimental development of advanced flight platforms. This is a strategic technical leadership role within the Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) Chief Engineering Team, responsible for architecting the technical vision and guiding multi-disciplinary teams through product development execution.
Key responsibilities include leading early conceptual design of advanced air vehicle platforms, conducting configuration exploration and trade studies, and performance modeling. You will apply first-principles thinking across all air vehicle engineering domains—aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, flight controls, guidance/navigation/control (GNC), low observables, autonomy, and mission systems—to evaluate concepts and identify technical breakthroughs for new operational capabilities.
You will define holistic system architectures integrating air vehicle design, mission systems, autonomy, and manufacturing considerations from inception. This includes leading cross-disciplinary trade studies, modeling system interactions and sensitivities, and guiding concepts from exploration through prototype-ready designs. The role demands deep technical expertise, hands-on involvement in build and test activities, and the ability to balance creative thinking with engineering realism to ensure executable technology paths.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, systems engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred), plus 10+ years of direct experience in conceptual design, architecture, or advanced development of complete air vehicle platforms. You must demonstrate proven leadership in early-phase system architecture for full aircraft or complex flight systems, strong systems-level thinking across all air vehicle domains, hands-on experience with real flight hardware and test activities, and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include prior experience with defense technology development organizations (DARPA, AFRL) on advanced flight programs, experience transitioning flight systems from research through prototype and operational demonstration, background in experimental or flight test environments, experience with advanced or classified air vehicle platforms including low-observable designs, deep technical expertise across multiple core air vehicle domains, and demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, non-traditional aerospace environments.
