Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead technical development of the Fury Program's advanced aircraft concepts. This role owns the complete design lifecycle—from white paper conceptualization through detailed design, prototyping, and flight testing—for alternative Fury configurations and new customer capabilities. You will serve as the primary technical authority for the Fury product line, establishing deep systems understanding and identifying technical development roadmaps including scope, cost, and schedule. Working closely with the Senior Director of Fury Programs, engineering teams, suppliers, and customer leadership, you will develop vehicle configurations, employment concepts, and operational strategies that meet evolving customer needs. Key responsibilities include: establishing program vision and keeping teams aligned; coordinating design-level trade studies across functional engineering teams; defining requirements and design review criteria; executing trade studies and operational analysis to validate system effectiveness; incorporating first-principles aircraft design expertise and safety standards; communicating technical strategies to executives, internal teams, and customers through written white papers and presentations; developing budgetary estimates and schedules; recruiting and integrating technical talent; and collaborating with suppliers to integrate capabilities onto the Group 5 platform. The role begins with significant individual contributor work to initiate programs, evolving into team leadership as successful Fury variants are established. You will balance hands-on technical depth with programmatic decision-making and customer engagement. Required: aerospace/mechanical/electrical/software engineering degree; 10+ years professional engineering experience; proven ability to develop and execute detailed strategies; experience managing technical projects/programs; experience building and leading technical teams; aircraft system design, prototype, and test background; customer-facing technical discussion experience; ability to obtain U.S. security clearance. Preferred: unmanned aircraft system design experience; foreign vendor integration experience; USG program management background; active DoD TS clearance.
