Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, seeks a Chief Engineer to lead the technical development of the Fury advanced aircraft program. This role combines deep technical expertise with program leadership, requiring ownership of the design process from conceptual sketches through detailed design, prototype build, and flight test for alternative Fury configurations.
You will serve as the primary technical authority for the Fury product line, establishing the aircraft architecture, system design roadmaps, and technical development strategies including scope, cost, and schedule estimates. Working closely with the Senior Director of Fury Programs, you will coordinate across engineering teams, technical departments, suppliers, and customer leadership to develop new capabilities and vehicle configurations.
Key responsibilities include: establishing program vision and keeping teams aligned; executing design-level trade studies with functional engineering teams; developing requirements and design review criteria; conducting operational analysis to determine system effectiveness; and incorporating expertise in aircraft design, design standards, system safety, and test methodology. You will communicate technical solutions to executive leadership, supporting teams, and customers through presentations and white papers.
The role begins with significant individual contributor work to initiate programs, evolving into team building and staffing as successful Fury variants are established. You will develop budgetary estimates, staffing plans, and work with functional teams to recruit and integrate talent. Supplier and vendor coordination to integrate capabilities onto the Group 5 platform is also essential.
Required: aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering degree; 10+ years of professional technical engineering experience; proven ability to develop and execute detailed strategies; experience managing technical projects/programs and building/leading technical teams; aircraft system design, prototype, and test experience; customer-facing technical discussion experience; ability to obtain and hold U.S. security clearance.
Preferred: unmanned aircraft system design experience; foreign vendor integration experience; USG program management experience; active DoD TS clearance.
