Salary: USD 195,000 - 250,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Chief Engineer for Strategic Systems to lead the end-to-end mission success of solid rocket propulsion system programs. This is an autonomous technical leadership role reporting to the Director of Engineering, based in Reno, NV with flexibility for Folsom, CA, Huntsville, AL, or remote work.
You will manage large multidisciplinary engineering teams, oversee complex systems engineering processes, and align technical execution with budgetary and schedule requirements. Key responsibilities include directing the complete technical lifecycle of programs by leading cross-functional teams through rigorous design reviews and qualification milestones, ensuring systems are producible, compliant, and balanced against cost and schedule constraints.
You will drive engineering teams to meet program milestones by maintaining focus on the critical path, proactively managing resources, and driving schedule performance through aggressive management of task timelines and alternative execution strategies. You'll establish and maintain lean technical scope baselines by eliminating contingency budgeting, monitoring cost performance indices to mitigate variances, and rigorously challenging budget change requests.
As the primary technical spokesperson for programs, you will manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, present programmatic material, cultivate new business opportunities, and ensure customer requests remain within authorized scope while providing data-driven technical alternatives for collaborative decision-making.
Required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related discipline with 15+ years of engineering experience and 5+ years of technical leadership in solid rocket motors. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Travel up to 25% expected, including possible overnights at site locations or test facilities.
