Salary: USD 253,000 - 336,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead technical development and integration for a maritime autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) product from concept through delivery. You will serve as the senior technical leader for Anduril's Maritime Division, responsible for defining architecture, scoping, and executing a new product line while working cross-functionally with product management, systems engineering, and third-party vendors.
Key responsibilities include supporting early architecture definition and technical approach; building development timelines with milestones and staffing plans; performing system trades on energy storage, vehicle control, mass/volume budgets, and payload capacity; leading a new internal team on platform development and prototyping; supporting Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR); driving root cause corrective action and reliability processes; and serving as the technical point of contact for internal research and development initiatives.
You will be accountable for all technical decisions on the AUV, work closely with functional leads to establish common technical approaches, identify opportunities for division-wide collaboration, and assess technical feasibility of proposed capability insertions. The role requires deep expertise in ocean-going craft, systems engineering, and product development, with proven success leading mission-critical DoD programs from concept to customer delivery.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Marine, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering (or equivalent); senior-level experience leading maritime programs through full lifecycle; strong understanding of vehicle and systems design principles; experience with mission-critical DoD systems; demonstrated ability to deliver under open-ended problems; proven team-building and leadership skills; willingness to travel 25% to customer and test sites; and eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
