Anduril Industries is seeking a Chief Engineer for Air Defense Middle East Programs to serve as the single named technical authority for the company's air defense systems deployed across the Middle East region.
You will own the architecture and technical performance of Anduril's sensors and effectors, partner and customer-furnished systems integration, the networks connecting them, and the sustainment posture for fielded sites thousands of miles from headquarters. This role spans direct commercial sales, foreign military sales executed with primes and government program offices, and multi-site rollouts at initial operating capability.
Key responsibilities include:
**Technical Authority**: Serve as Chief Engineer for Air Defense's Middle East programs, owning system architecture, integration strategy, fielding readiness, and sustainment outcomes across the portfolio. Set the technical baseline, chair design reviews, and make technical decisions that keep schedules aligned with engineering realities. Exercise authority across engineers who do not report to you.
**Third-Party Integration**: Define interfaces to partner radars, effectors, customer-furnished equipment, legacy command and control systems, and third-party systems. Much integration scope arrives underspecified; you will negotiate directly with partner vendors and government program offices, then provide Anduril with a clear account of what integrates cleanly, what requires engineering sprints, and what isn't technically ready.
**Foreign Sales Engineering**: Own the engineering position in direct commercial and foreign military sales negotiations. Address releasability and export posture, in-country localization and production content, multi-year sustainment concepts, and technical terms negotiated into contracts before design begins. Write the basis of estimate supporting engineering positions.
**Field Operations**: Deploy to the region, work alongside operators and field service teams, and own technical performance in the field. Lead recovery efforts when fielded sites degrade under time pressure and across time zones, then feed learnings back into the product to prevent failures at subsequent sites.
**Customer Representation**: Represent Anduril's engineering position to partner nation ministries, program offices, primes, and authorization authorities. Translate customer-stated operational requirements into executable technical plans and explain engineering constraints in actionable terms.
**Growth**: Shape technical content of pursuits as the regional pipeline expands faster than the delivered baseline. Write credible estimates and flag commitments the engineering cannot support.
The role requires significant travel—up to 50% of the year, with the majority to the Middle East. You will work with Anduril's family of air defense systems (Roadrunner, Sentry, Anvil, Pulsar, Wisp) integrated through Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that creates real-time 3D command and control.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Engineering, science, or other technical degree, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of systems or engineering experience with a track record of technical ownership on fielded systems
- End-to-end technical accountability for whether delivered systems actually worked in operational environments, not only for producing design artifacts
- Experience integrating third-party and customer-furnished hardware and software into systems you were accountable for
- Ability to carry technical authority across teams that do not report to you, and to brief senior technical leadership and external customers directly
- Ability to define verification approaches for full program scope, negotiate requirements and acceptance with customers, and write credible bases of estimate
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the year, with Middle East travel the majority
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Prior experience delivering to Middle East defense customers with foreign military or civilian partners
- Foreign military sales or direct commercial sales engineering experience, including releasability, export, and in-country localization or offset requirements
- Depth in radar and sensor integration, effector integration, air defense command and control, tactical networking, or cross-domain solutions
- Experience standing up sustainment for systems fielded OCONUS
- Arabic language skills
