Voyager Technologies is seeking a Chief Engineer for Strategic Systems to lead the end-to-end mission success of solid rocket propulsion system (SRM) programs. This is an autonomous technical leadership role reporting to the Director of Engineering within the Strategic Systems department.
The Chief Engineer will manage large multidisciplinary teams, oversee complex systems engineering processes, and align technical execution with budgetary and schedule requirements. Key responsibilities include directing the complete technical lifecycle of programs by leading cross-functional teams through rigorous design reviews and qualification milestones, ensuring systems are producible, compliant with technical data requirements, and balanced against cost and schedule constraints.
The role requires leading engineering teams to meet all program milestones by maintaining focus on the critical path, proactively deconflicting resources, and driving schedule performance through aggressive management of task timelines and alternative execution strategies. The Chief Engineer will establish and maintain lean technical scope baselines by eliminating contingency budgeting, monitoring cost performance indices to mitigate variances, and rigorously challenging budget change requests to preserve management reserves.
Additionally, the Chief Engineer will serve as the primary technical spokesperson for programs, managing both internal and external stakeholder relationships by presenting programmatic material, cultivating new business opportunities, and ensuring all customer requests remain within authorized scope while providing data-driven technical alternatives for collaborative decision-making.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related discipline with 15 years of engineering experience and 5+ years in technical leadership in solid rocket motors. Preferred experience includes at least four years leading controllable SRM projects with multi-disciplinary teams of 10+ people. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the appropriate level are required. Travel up to 25% is expected.
