Fluidstack is building civilization-scale AI infrastructure powered by renewable energy. The company is rethinking every layer of the data center stack—from power acquisition through hardware design and operations—to deploy gigawatt-scale compute faster than anyone else.
The Photovoltaic (PV) Product Engineering team is establishing a captive silicon solar cell supply chain to power this infrastructure. This role owns the technical strategy and execution of Fluidstack's solar cell technology roadmap.
Key responsibilities include:
- Select and commit to a silicon cell architecture (TOPCon, HJT, or back-contact) and defend the efficiency and cost trajectory locked in by that decision to both internal leadership and manufacturing partners.
- Build a rigorous loss-analysis framework and efficiency entitlement model decomposed across recombination, optical, and resistive losses, so every process and device engineer knows exactly where the next basis point of improvement comes from.
- Direct the technical agenda of process, device physics, and characterization teams in partnership with the PV Cell Engineering Lead, setting priorities that close real gaps to entitlement.
- Scope and manage pilot line partnerships, own the technology transfer strategy from pilot to production, and make the build-vs-partner decision.
- Set cell procurement specifications and drive supplier co-engineering while Fluidstack's own production line comes online, ensuring purchased cells meet the same performance bar as internally manufactured cells.
The ideal candidate brings 15+ years in silicon PV cell technology, with at least one cell architecture taken from concept to production efficiency targets. You've built and defended full loss budgets, led process transfers from pilot to production, and directed multi-disciplinary R&D teams. Published or patented depth in passivation, contacts, or device design is expected. Experience at companies like SunPower/Maxeon, Fraunhofer ISE, or UNSW, familiarity with clean supply chains, or back-contact architecture expertise is a plus.
