StockX is seeking a Category Manager for Sneakers to own end-to-end growth of the sneaker category within a new, high-priority commerce initiative. This is a single-threaded ownership role blending deep cultural fluency, strategic planning, and hands-on execution. You will serve as the internal authority on the primary and secondary sneaker ecosystem, the external face of StockX to sneaker sellers and creators, and the architect of the sneaker go-to-market playbook. Early responsibilities include owning everything related to sneakers within the initiative; as the category scales, you will grow into a leadership role overseeing a broader team. Key responsibilities: - Define and execute growth strategy for sneakers, owning category-level performance across supply, engagement, and revenue - Establish quarterly goals, leading indicators, and operating rhythms - Maintain deep, current knowledge of sneaker culture: key sellers, creators, collectors, sub-segments (hype vs. GRs, vintage, performance, regional), drops, releases, brand dynamics, pricing, and liquidity - Serve as the internal voice of the sneaker community, informing product, marketing, and platform decisions - Build and own a pipeline of high-impact sneaker sellers, shops, influencers, and creators; personally recruit and onboard flagship sellers - Develop seller strategies balancing credibility, storytelling, and commerce - Identify and orchestrate sneaker-specific moments, campaigns, and formats that drive engagement and conversion - Partner with Category Marketing on culturally authentic activations - Work closely with Account & Partnerships Managers, Product, and Engineering to scale seller acquisition and shape features - Document learnings, frameworks, and best practices for reuse across future categories - Support hiring and onboarding as the team grows Required qualifications: - Deeply embedded in sneaker culture with knowledge of people, platforms, trends, and economics - 5+ years in category management, partnerships, marketplace growth, brand, or operator roles in sneakers, streetwear, or adjacent ecosystems - Comfortable owning outcomes and executing, iterating, and adapting - Strong relationship builder with credibility among sellers, creators, and community members - Data-literate and commercially minded; understanding of pricing, margins, liquidity, and incentives - Entrepreneurial, scrappy, and energized by building from the ground up Nice to have: existing network of sneaker resellers, store owners, creators, or influencers; experience buying/selling sneakers or operating within resale marketplaces; familiarity with content-driven commerce or creator platforms; cross-functional product and engineering experience.
