Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI. The company designs and operates global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems.
In this role, you will own the technical readiness of Mecka's deployed capture devices, ensuring they reliably collect high-quality data across diverse operators, locations, and demanding real-world conditions. You will be the primary point of contact for device issues, responsible for diagnosis, repair or recovery, and verification that devices are ready for use.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own device issues from initial report through diagnosis, repair or recovery, and verification of readiness
- Troubleshoot cameras, connected peripherals, Linux software, storage, networking, and data transfers using logs, measurements, and physical testing
- Prepare and validate devices for deployment, including configuration, software updates, recording checks, and post-return inspection
- Support operators and partners with clear technical guidance; reproduce product defects and collaborate with engineering teams on resolution
- Write scripts and troubleshooting procedures to accelerate diagnosis and resolution of common problems
- Track recurring failures, verify corrective actions, and improve readiness checks using fleet data
You will transform hands-on troubleshooting into scalable tools and procedures that enable a growing fleet to collect more useful data with less downtime.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-have:
- 3-4 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting physical devices combining hardware and software (embedded systems, cameras, robotics, connected equipment)
- Practical Linux skills: command-line tools, logs, processes, services, filesystems, network diagnostics
- Python or shell scripting skills for diagnostics, device checks, and operational automation
- Ability to isolate faults through repeatable tests and distinguish hardware, software, configuration, and operator issues
- Experience validating device behavior after repair, configuration change, or software update
- Clear communication with technical and nontechnical users, including useful reproduction steps, diagnostic evidence, and instructions
- Ability to prioritize issues by operational impact and follow them through to verified outcome
Nice-to-have:
- Experience supporting distributed device fleets, remote diagnostics, provisioning, or software updates
- Experience diagnosing recording problems (dropped frames, corrupted files, synchronization errors, incomplete transfers)
- Experience with electronics troubleshooting, component replacement, or repair qualification
