Astranis is a satellite communications company building advanced spacecraft for high orbits. As a CAD Engineer, you will design, develop, configure, and maintain spacecraft components and assemblies including bracketry, harnesses, propulsion manifolds, and waveguides. Your responsibilities include modeling and drawing components, structures, and manifolds for spacecraft and supporting structures; managing top-level spacecraft assemblies in CAD; creating and maintaining bills of materials (BOMs) for production transfer; reviewing and checking engineering drawings; developing and documenting design practices that enable efficient design; and assisting in recruiting and hiring additional team members. You will work in a fast-paced environment with hands-on hardware development, collaborating with a rapidly growing engineering team. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, enthusiasm for novel design approaches, and the ability to work within complex systems. While spacecraft experience is beneficial, it is not required. Required qualifications include 1–3 years of experience in a design role, proficiency with SolidWorks, knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawings, and a passion for hardware development. Bonus qualifications include expertise in SolidWorks PDM administration, experience designing complex assemblies and components, familiarity with spaceflight component design and vacuum-compatible systems, and surface modeling experience.
