Business Systems Engineers at Hevo Data build internal tools and systems that enable teams across the organization to work more effectively. You will partner with business teams in Sales, Marketing, RevOps, Customer Success, Finance, and the Founders' Office to understand their challenges, identify automation opportunities, and deliver solutions.
Your work spans the full lifecycle: understanding business problems, deciding on the right technical approach, building the solution, and owning it post-launch. Solutions may take the form of custom software, integrations, automations, data workflows, or AI-powered tools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with business teams to understand problems and identify opportunities for automation or better tooling
- Building and maintaining internal applications, integrations, automations, and workflows
- Making informed decisions about when to build custom software versus leveraging existing tools
- Leveraging AI tools and APIs to solve problems effectively
The role emphasizes strong problem-solving ability, business acumen, and end-to-end ownership from problem definition through rollout and maintenance. You will turn loosely defined business problems into working solutions.
Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving ability and good business context
- Demonstrated ownership from problem definition through rollout and maintenance
- Ability to translate loosely defined problems into working solutions
- AI-native development: strong ability to use coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex to build significantly faster
- Proficiency with Claude Code, Codex, or similar coding agents
- Programming experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages
- SQL and database knowledge
- Git and standard development workflows
- Experience with LLM APIs and agent frameworks
