Perplexity is hiring a Business Operations Manager to build and run the operating system for the Communications and Marketing team as the company scales rapidly. This role sits at the intersection of builder and connective tissue—owning the infrastructure, processes, and relationships that allow a busy team to move fast and stay aligned. Key Responsibilities: - Own the marketing and communications tool stack: evaluate, procure, onboard, provision access, train the team, and retire tools as the company outgrows them - Build and maintain internal tools including calendars, intake forms, dashboards, trackers, and automations; ensure reliability as adoption grows - Run the team's operating rhythm: manage priorities, launch and campaign calendars, planning cycles, and cross-functional handoffs from idea through launch - Manage agencies, contractors, and vendors from selection and onboarding through scopes, invoices, renewals, and performance reviews - Keep contracts and procurement moving with Legal and Finance to prevent agreements from becoming bottlenecks - Serve as connective tissue across the team: track dependencies, spot issues early, and keep people aligned without unnecessary meetings - Act as thought partner and triage point to leadership: keep executives informed, surface problems early, know when to escalate, and drive solutions - Add rigor and process discipline without creating overhead; distinguish between helpful process and bureaucracy Requirements: - 4–7 years in marketing operations, business operations, or similar systems-and-process roles, ideally in a fast-growing technology company - Hands-on builder experience: you've stood up tools, automations, or dashboards yourself; AI tools are already part of your workflow - Strong analytical instincts; able to transform messy inputs into numbers leadership can trust - Proven experience managing agency, contractor, or vendor relationships and working with Legal and Finance on contracts and procurement - Exceptionally organized and genuinely relational; people enjoy working with you, share information early, and trust you with sensitive details - Clear, direct communicator: can brief executives, run cross-functional meetings, and write process documentation that people actually follow - Demonstrated experience as a trusted partner to senior executives - Comfortable operating in ambiguity; think in scale and build systems that hold up when team size, budget, or launch volume doubles - No specific tool stack required; you've operated marketing or comms systems in high-growth environments and can learn new tools quickly
