LiteLLM is seeking a Business Manager to own the operational backbone of the company. This is a hands-on role combining finance, people operations, legal coordination, and executive operations. You'll ensure accurate financial records, support the team through HR administration, coordinate with external specialists, and manage office operations.
FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS
You will maintain accurate books with proper transaction categorization and reconciliation. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable, reimbursements, payroll coordination, invoicing, and financial records. You'll investigate discrepancies, maintain the financial model with support from fractional finance experts, coordinate with outsourced accounting firms and tax advisors, and prepare reliable financial information for founders. You'll build lightweight controls and processes that maintain compliance without creating friction.
PEOPLE OPERATIONS
Own day-to-day HR administration including onboarding, offboarding, payroll, benefits, and employee records. Operate systems such as Rippling or Gusto. Provide timely support to employees with questions or problems. Coordinate with external experts on compensation and compliance matters. Help introduce structured people programs as the company scales.
LEGAL AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS
Coordinate contracts, insurance, registrations, compliance deadlines, and corporate administration. Develop judgment about what to handle internally versus routing to legal counsel. Work effectively with lawyers while managing costs and risk. Maintain organized records and ensure deadlines are met. Approach AI-generated guidance cautiously and verify important decisions with qualified experts.
OFFICE AND EXECUTIVE OPERATIONS
Help manage the office environment and support founders with high-priority administrative projects. Coordinate vendors, events, scheduling, and travel. Assist with recruiting coordination and candidate experience. Identify operational gaps and take ownership proactively.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or business operations, ideally at an early-stage technology company
- Hands-on experience with payroll and HR administration
- Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or similar)
- Experience with people platforms (Rippling, Gusto, Workday, or similar)
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to investigate discrepancies
- Strong sense of urgency and low tolerance for dropped tasks
- Good judgment about when to solve problems internally versus involving specialists
- Genuine desire to support people and improve company operations
- Curiosity and ability to learn unfamiliar areas quickly
- Strong prioritization skills
- Comfort working across finance, HR, legal coordination, office management, and executive operations
IDEAL CANDIDATES may have begun careers in finance/accounting and moved into broader startup operations, or are exceptional executive assistants or operations leads who have become the person everyone relies on.
