As Business Manager for the Train Business Unit, you will drive the scaling and profitability of BlaBlaCar's train distribution business across Europe. Reporting directly to the VP Business, this is a highly cross-functional role that bridges strategy and execution.
Key responsibilities include:
• Scaling the Train Business: Expand train distribution into new European markets, partner with local Growth Managers to boost sales in existing markets, and develop strategic initiatives to increase profitability while monitoring sales performance and costs.
• Partnership & Negotiation: Manage relationships and lead negotiations with major rail carriers and GDS (Global Distribution System) providers. Navigate the rapidly evolving, liberalizing European rail environment to identify market threats and opportunities.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the business anchor to define short- and long-term train roadmap priorities with Product and Engineering teams. Interface with Finance, Legal, and Customer Care to ensure seamless, compliant, and scalable operations.
• Business Development: Discover and launch new B2B revenue streams for the train vertical, benchmark new supply categories or verticals, manage secondary European markets without a dedicated General Manager, and support ad-hoc, high-impact business projects as priorities evolve.
You bring a Master's degree in Business, Management, or Finance from a business school or equivalent. You have 2–3 years of experience in management consulting, high-growth startups, or business development. You possess outstanding analytical skills, strong project management capabilities, and proven commercial acumen with negotiation and account management experience. You communicate excellently, work agilely across multiple priorities, and thrive in collaborative team environments. Full professional proficiency in French and English is required; a third European language is a strong asset. Prior experience in rail or travel tech is a bonus.
