Motorway is the UK's largest online car-selling platform, connecting private sellers with over 8,000 dealers nationwide. Founded in 2017 and backed by leading technology investors with £143 million in Series C funding, the company is at a critical growth phase. You will lead a Business Development Team of up to 8 agents based in Brighton. The team manages dealer relationships, with each agent overseeing approximately 40 dealer accounts. Agents maintain weekly contact with dealers to support them, resolve issues, and drive performance across bids, sales, and product adoption. Day-to-day responsibilities include owning the team's daily operations, driving performance against KPIs (bid activity, net sold, product adoption, dealer engagement), and managing attendance, adherence, and wellbeing. You'll implement effective coaching to build skill, resilience, and accountability, delivering 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and development plans with measurable impact. You'll use data and dashboards to manage the team, identify trends, address underperformance, and monitor dealer portfolio health across your team, escalating issues as needed. You'll feed insights upward to support broader commercial decisions and collaborate cross-functionally to drive improved business outcomes, working as part of the broader management team. The ideal candidate has proven people management experience in sales or account management, a strong coaching ethos, comfort using data to drive decisions, high energy for a busy contact-heavy environment, and leads by example with clear, direct communication. Experience in automotive or marketplace environments is a bonus. Motorway offers competitive salary, equity scheme, 25 days holiday, sea-front office with bi-weekly massages and free snacks, private medical insurance, life assurance, 5% pension contribution, enhanced family leave (26 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption), 24/7 EAP, EV leasing, cycle to work scheme, nursery salary sacrifice, and 1 paid volunteering day annually.
