Rokt is the global leader in ecommerce transaction optimization, leveraging machine learning to maximize customer value at the transaction moment. The company powers 13 billion transactions annually for major brands including PayPal, Uber, Hulu, and Fanatics, and has grown from a Sydney startup to a $3.5B company with 700+ employees across eight offices. As a Business Development Manager for Rokt Ads in Japan, you will own designated partnership deals—such as referral programs—from identification through launch and growth. You'll drive both outbound prospecting and inbound qualification to build a pipeline of Japanese advertisers, independently closing entry-level and mid-complexity deals while partnering with senior BD team members on larger enterprise opportunities. Key responsibilities include: sourcing and structuring partnership deals end-to-end; running discovery and negotiation with target accounts; identifying key stakeholders and multi-threading relationships; maintaining accurate forecasts in HubSpot; leveraging AI tools daily for account research, outreach, and proposal creation; developing localized sales collateral; and continuously refining sales tactics with the team. You'll develop deep expertise in the Japanese digital advertising ecosystem and your market feedback will shape the local go-to-market playbook. The role requires comfort with fast-moving environments, incomplete information, and shifting priorities based on customer and business needs. Rokt is an AI-first company where the person who spots a problem typically fixes it. The BD team uses AI as an account intelligence partner to synthesize customer activity, assess account health, and turn goals into measurable success plans. AI also supports technical troubleshooting and increasingly is part of the product delivered to clients. Required: 3+ years in sales, business development, partnerships, or performance marketing (digital advertising, agency, or adtech/martech preferred); demonstrated ability to generate pipeline and progress deals; working fluency in performance marketing concepts (ROAS/CPA, attribution, measurement); strong communication in Japanese business contexts; builder mindset with operational discipline; willingness to be in Tokyo office at least 4 days/week and travel as needed; native-level Japanese and business-level English.
