Klarna is building an everyday finance network serving over 120 million consumers across 26 countries. You'll join the Regulatory Interactions team in Stockholm, working alongside a senior colleague who leads supervisor relationships, reporting to the Global Lead of Regulatory Interactions. In this role, you'll manage regulator correspondence for your portfolio, ensuring accurate and timely responses to regulatory requests. You'll maintain comprehensive logs of all interactions, prepare materials for submissions and supervisory meetings (including Swedish-language correspondence), and keep the team's regulatory registers current—tracking applicable rules, positions taken with regulators, and periodic reporting obligations. A significant part of the role involves designing and building AI-powered tools and upgrading existing processes. Examples include workflows that log and summarize inbound correspondence, or checks that compare draft responses against previously stated regulatory positions. You'll build these tools within Klarna's data and security controls from the start, given the confidential and legally privileged nature of much regulatory material. You'll own the discovery process with end users, validate that deliverables work for them, and maintain tools post-launch. You'll collaborate across Compliance, Risk, Legal, market teams in covered countries, Financial and Regulatory Reporting and Analytics, and coordinate with colleagues covering the FCA (UK) and BaFin (Germany). The role is hands-on: you'll work on problems most companies never encounter, with interesting work landing directly with you rather than filtered through layers. Within your first year, the tools and processes you design should be in everyday use across the team, and you should be the person maintaining them. Klarna operates as Klarna Bank AB (authorized in Sweden) and through branches in other EU markets, answering to Finansinspektionen (FI) as the home regulator and to host regulators in each market. REQUIREMENTS: - Worked in or close to financial services regulation: regulatory, compliance, legal, or analyst position at a bank, payments firm, or other regulated institution; supervisory authority; or consultancy/law firm advising regulated firms - Understand how regulated firms interact with supervisors: information requests, reporting deadlines, maintaining consistent positions across authorities - Ability to pick up new EU regulation quickly and apply it to live requests - Built something with AI or code that others use (automation, internal tool, tracker, dashboard); can explain how it works and failure modes - Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets; can structure information for others to find and use - Fluent in Swedish and English (written and spoken): English for formal EU regulator correspondence, Swedish for FI correspondence and Swedish colleague collaboration - Precise writing in both languages, detail-oriented across many open items without missing deadlines, handles confidential material with discretion - Proactive: notices when processes could improve and fixes them; raises problems early; comfortable working with senior people BONUS: - Degree in law, economics, finance, business, data, or related field - Swedish law degree (juristexamen) - Experience building with LLM APIs or agent workflows; designing prompts and tests for AI on confidential material (Claude, Cursor, Google Apps Script) - Recognized compliance or regulatory qualification (e.g., International Compliance Association) - Experience rolling out tools and training colleagues - Additional EU languages (German especially useful for BaFin coverage)
