Instructure's New Markets division is building AI-powered products to generate new revenue streams. As Builder in a two-person pod, you are the technical co-founder equivalent—responsible for architectural integrity, code quality, security, and scalability of products built with AI-assisted development tooling.
You will own the technical bet alongside a non-technical Pod Founder. Your core responsibilities include: directing and verifying AI-generated code at high volume rather than hand-writing every line; making judgment calls on what's safe to ship at pilot pace versus what needs hardening; ensuring security and scalability without a dedicated platform team backstop; and translating between product intent and technical feasibility.
You'll work hands-on in Git with modern AI development tools, moving fast early and progressively hardening the product as it scales toward general availability. You'll write context back to shared systems so the Founder and operating team work from the same surface. Success means shipping reliable, secure, customer-focused products that scale.
This role requires proven experience shipping production software and owning its reliability in the real world. You need senior engineering judgment to direct high volumes of AI output, fluency (or fast-developing fluency) with AI-assisted development, and comfort owning security and scale independently. A product mindset is essential—you care that the thing works for customers, not just that it compiles. You balance moving at pilot pace with shipping something that won't fall over when it scales.
