ARQ is a fast-growing fintech company building infrastructure for cross-border money movement. This role is a compliance and risk assessment position focused on independent testing and evaluation of BSA/AML, KYC, OFAC, and transaction monitoring controls.
You will serve as an independent risk assessor, responsible for testing compliance controls end-to-end, separate from the teams that operate them. Your core responsibilities include:
- Conduct independent testing of BSA/AML, KYC, OFAC, and transaction monitoring controls across the organization
- Rate all findings (high/medium/low) with regulatory-grade evidence that can withstand regulator scrutiny
- Independently pull and analyze data rather than relying on others to provide reports
- Challenge control thresholds, alert logic, and sampling assumptions using quantitative analysis
- Track remediation of open issues and escalate when owners fail to close them
- Prepare the organization for regulatory examinations and audits by identifying and documenting weak spots
The role emphasizes independence, rigor, and regulatory credibility. You will not propose solutions—the business owns remediation. You own the truth about risk. You must be comfortable delivering difficult messages to senior leadership and regulators.
REQUIREMENTS (NON-NEGOTIABLE):
- 4+ years of experience in BSA/AML, FinCrime, internal audit, or regulatory compliance
- Background at a top-tier audit/advisory firm, in-house compliance function, or both
- Demonstrated experience writing findings that regulators, auditors, or boards have reviewed and acted upon
- Ability to articulate high-risk findings to senior leaders with specific regulatory citations
- Deep working knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC regulations, and FinCEN expectations
NICE TO HAVE:
- JD or bar admission
- Degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, or STEM field
- SQL proficiency for querying transaction data
- Python or R for analysis, sampling, or alert logic testing
- Statistics expertise (sampling design, hypothesis testing, threshold validation, model validation)
- Professional certifications: CAMS, CRCM, CIA, CISA, CPA, or CFE
- Exposure to AI or model risk assessment (SR 11-7, NIST AI RMF)
