Salary: USD 161,390 - 169,459.5 / annual
Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for sustainable air mobility. The BMS Simulation Engineer role is central to developing and validating the battery management system that powers these aircraft.
You will lead and coordinate battery management system (BMS) simulation modeling across Battery Engineering and cross-functional partners. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll define simulation requirements and create reduced-order models that implement complex physical plant functionality for BMS simulation environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining multiple-fidelity model libraries for battery and battery control simulations
- Analyzing simulation data to generate performance reports and actionable insights on expected vs. actual system behaviors
- Developing intuitive diagnostic interfaces for controllers to support troubleshooting and maintenance
- Validating simulation model performance, efficiency, accuracy, and stability through rigorous testing
- Creating test cases and scripts for unit test, Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments
- Executing SIL and HIL system tests under various normal and abnormal operation scenarios
- Supporting simulation test infrastructure for BMS verification as a mission-critical system
- Implementing continuous improvements to ensure models remain accurate and aligned with industry standards
You'll work in a fast-paced aerospace environment where simulation fidelity directly impacts aircraft safety and performance. The role bridges controls engineering, software validation, and battery systems expertise.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. 36+ months of experience as a Controls Engineer, Software Engineer, or related role in automotive or aerospace R&D and new product development.
