Salary: USD 175,000 - 362,500 / annual
MatX is building best-in-class silicon for high-performance and sustainable GenAI. We are seeking engineers with strong Haskell skills to join our hardware design team.
In this role, you will write hardware in Bluespec, a hardware description language rooted in Haskell's type system and semantics. You'll be responsible for delivering performant silicon RTL at the full-chip or subsystem level. No prior hardware experience is required—if you know Haskell, we will teach you the hardware side.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build production hardware for compute, memory management, and high-speed connectivity
- Develop reusable, parameterized Bluespec libraries that scale across the chip
- Shape hardware architecture by leveraging Bluespec to explore implementation tradeoffs and converge on optimal designs
- Create innovative tooling for our hardware/software ecosystem to help build correct, high-performance hardware faster
You should be proficient in Haskell with comfort around monads, typeclasses, higher-order functions, and do-notation. You have strong engineering fundamentals—writing clean, well-tested, well-documented code with comfort in build systems, version control, and CI workflows. You are strongly willing to quickly ramp on Bluespec Haskell (BH).
Bonus qualifications include existing Bluespec experience, prior ASIC or FPGA design experience (understanding clock domains, pipelining, state machines, synthesis, timing closure), or production Rust experience.
