Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
Harbinger Motors is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company transforming the medium-duty EV and hybrid market. The battery team is seeking a Battery Test Engineer to characterize battery pack electrical and thermal performance and take ownership of validating the Auxiliary Power System (APS) product.
You will work closely with design engineers, quality engineers, BMS engineers, system engineers, and manufacturing engineers to ensure design changes are thoroughly tested before production release. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute test procedures to characterize and validate battery and system behavior
- Write test software using LabVIEW and/or CANalyzer to automate test cases
- Participate in BMS software development, providing data to support or refute change proposals
- Specify requirements for Design Validation Plan (DVP) test procedures, including instrumentation, data acquisition, and post-processing methods
- Author test cases to confirm performance against defined requirements
- Document test results thoroughly and support issue resolution
- Maintain safety and organization in the lab environment
- Specify and purchase test equipment; build and debug test stations
This is a hands-on role requiring comfort with high-voltage systems, instrumentation (thermocouples, pressure transducers, shunts, oscilloscopes), and lab fabrication work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering
- Previous hands-on lab experience required; comfort working around high-voltage systems
- Ability to use hand tools, fabricate wiring projects, and debug test setups
- Hands-on experience with instrumentation (thermocouples, pressure transducers, shunts, oscilloscopes) and ability to use sensors to obtain required data based on component design requirements
- Working knowledge of batteries, AC and DC fundamentals, and power conversion
- Experience with coding languages and applications for data analysis (Python or Matlab)
- Good technical writing skills for documenting test reports
