Salary: CAD 145,000 - 170,000 / annual
Banyan Software is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to drive AI adoption across internal business functions including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Legal. In this role, you will embed within functional teams to understand their workflows, identify high-value AI opportunities, and build AI-native tools that materially improve how teams operate.
You will act as both a builder and translator—fluent in modern AI capabilities and trusted to bridge business needs with technical solutions. Your responsibilities include:
• Embedding with functional teams to deeply understand their systems, KPIs, and pain points, becoming a trusted member of each team
• Identifying and sequencing high-impact AI opportunities across functions based on impact, effort, and risk
• Translating ambiguous business problems into working solutions through rapid prototyping and iterative development
• Building and shipping AI-native applications using LLMs, retrieval systems, and agentic workflows with tools like Claude Code
• Making deliberate build-versus-buy decisions with clear ROI analysis and business cases
• Defining success metrics, translating between business and technical language, and driving adoption across the organization
• Training teams on new tools and patterns, measuring real-world impact post-launch, and sharing best practices
You will work with high-quality internal data and have the opportunity to shape how a large, multi-portfolio organization leverages AI for operational excellence.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 6–10 years of experience in software engineering, analytics, strategy, finance, or product, with at least 3 years hands-on in AI or building AI-enabled applications
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, business, or technical field (Master's preferred)
• Demonstrated experience shipping production AI tools from prototype to real users, including LLM applications, retrieval systems, or agentic workflows
• Hands-on experience with automation/orchestration platforms such as n8n and designing/shipping applications on AWS; ability to evaluate build-versus-buy trade-offs
• Solid engineering fundamentals: GitHub workflows with code review, testing, secrets management, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, environment separation, staged rollout, monitoring, and rollback
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills; proficiency with Excel and modern BI tools (Looker, Power BI, Tableau); ability to work with messy, real-world data
• Working command of modern AI technologies including LLMs, retrieval, agentic workflows, model evaluation, data quality, and practical AI limitations
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) as part of daily workflow for prototyping, building, testing, and iteration
• Strong financial and commercial acumen; ability to build and communicate credible business cases to non-technical stakeholders
• Plus: Forward-deployed or production AI experience (Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, hands-on consulting, or shipping LLM applications in real business environments)
